So if you haven't figured it out yet I am 100% completely addicted to WAHM diapers. I love knowing that I am helping to support a family, and in many cases I am helping a fellow mom be able to stay home with her family. Having worked full time shortly after my first two children were born, I know how precious every minute you spend with your little ones are!
Aubrey at Gabby Wren Diapers is one of these wonderful WAHMs. Along with help from her mother, Linda, and older sister, she started Gabby Wren Diapers. The name Gabby Wren comes from the names of her two daughters Gabby and Wren.
Aubrey sent me one of their super cute, patent pending, fold down rise, OS Split pocket diapers. Now that is a mouthful!
When I first got the diaper I fell in love instantly with the minky inner of the diaper. It also has a hidden layer of PUL and a cotton outer. As I mentioned before this is not a standard One Size diaper. As you can already see just by looking at the front of the diaper there are not a bunch of snaps cluttering up the diaper. That is because this is a fold down rise diaper.
The front of the diaper actually fold over and snaps to the front of the diaper to change the rise settings. When the diaper is set to fully open there is a layer of minky that folds over and covers the snaps so that they do not rub against and irritate baby;s tummy. The rise settings are designed to fit babies from 10-35lbs.
This diaper also has one of the most unique features I have ever seen in a diaper. It does not have a standard front or back pocket. It actually has a split pocket. What is a split pocket you ask? When I first got the diaper I was calling it an envelope pocket. Instead of opening at the back of the diaper the pocket actually opens up along the center of the diaper.
I love this feature for two reasons. First being that it makes stuffing the diaper really easy. Secondly the insert washes out on its own! So no more touching yucky inserts!
There are no cross over tabs on this diaper but I don't really think that it matters. The way that the fold down rise works when you fold it down in the front it adds a bit of bulk to the front of the diaper, so even if you have a really skinny waist little one it shouldn't be too big in the waist.
Aubrey sent me one of her snake soakers to go with the diaper. The soaker is made out of two layers of ZorbII and can be folded in a million different ways to give you the absorbency you want. Since I have a little boy I usually fold it in half then fold over the front again. This gives me 8 layers of ZorbII in the wet zones.
Overall I think that this diaper is great! It is a little bulkier than a normal One Size diaper, which does make it a little hard to wear under clothes. This diaper is going to get A LOT of play in my house come summer time! It is super absorbent and fits great!
Gabby Wren One Size diapers range from $20-$25 dollars and the inserts are $4. In addition to diapers they also make and sell bibs, hair bows, mama cloth, and baby birdie legs!
Aubrey is offering a diaper to one lucky reader!
