Sage Diaper Sure Fit Pocket and Snap it Diaper Insert Review and Giveaway - ENDS 4/10

I was recently asked by Tina at My Baby's Green to review the Sage Diaper Sure Fit Pocket Diaper and Sure Fit diaper Insert.

Sage Diaper (FKA Diperaps)was started in 1985 by a mother of three who was tired of the horrible diaper rash that plastic covers left on her little ones bum in the hot and humid weather of Hong Kong where they were living. They were the first diapers to use PUL in a re-usable diaper, and the first to be sold in stores.

The Sure Fit Pocket diaper is side snap diaper and what I am calling a two size diaper as it come in two sizes for a more trim fit. Size one fits babies from 5-20lbs and size 2 will fit from 18-40lbs! Just like a one size diaper it has adjustable rise. At just over 12lbs and about 24inches long Colton wears the diaper on the middle rise setting and all the way closed on the side snaps and on snap number three on the leg snaps.

The fit on Colton is GREAT. It is super trim. There is elastic in both the front and the back of the diaper and I like it. I feel like it gives a snugger fit with out making the diaper too tight around the tummy. We never get red marks like we sometimes do with our other snap diapers.

The Snap it Diaper insert comes in either hemp/organic cotton or Micro Fleece. There are two snaps at the back of the insert so that it can be used as either an AI2 diaper with the insert laying right on top or as a pocket diaper with the insert put in the pocket.

The pocket on the diaper is nice and large and it makes it really easy to get the insert in and out. I actually forgot to take the insert out of the diaper the first time I washed it and it shook its way out of the diaper (even though it was still attached by the snaps).

One of the other features of the insert that I really love is that it is like 2 inserts in one.  It is two, two layer insets sewn together at the top and the bottom.  This leaves a cocoon like effect in the middle of the insert.  This makes it really easy to add a doubler to the inside of the insert and it will stay in place when you stuff the diaper and nothing will bunch!  Having said that my little guy is not a very heavy wetter yet and I haven't had the need for a double but the hemp insert made it though a 6 hour sleep stretch with no sign of leaks!

Would you like to get your LO's tushie into one of these diapers?

  3. I believe anyone that hasn't seen a "modern" cloth diaper would be pleasantly surprised. I think people think I'm a little crazy when I talk about wanting to cloth diaper the upcoming baby.

I am really impressed with the Sage Diaper blog - over 30 years ago she developed the same principles we base our beloved cloth on today? That's incredible! Love it!!

It really seems that cloth diapering is in the hearts of your entire family, and I think that’s great. I’m so glad to see an entire family on board- all to often I hear about a family where cloth is a point of argument (whether to use it or not, laundry, etc.) and see it become an issue.

Hello! I was sent your way by Tailor Made Momma’s giveaway! I’ve been cloth diapering for 12 years now and 5 kids. We have used quite a few diaperaps and it is great to read about the mama behind them! Thanks for the giveaway.

Its great to see how much cloth diapering has changed over the years, and how certain things paved the way of how they are now. I am very new to cloth diapering my two younger children age 21 months and 1 month, so it is interesting to read posts like this! So thank you : )
