Amerisleep Memory Foam Bed - Review

DH and I have been struggling for about a year with our traditional spring mattress.  It was the first mattress we purchased together and seemed great at the time.  Well after several years of use and three pregnancies it had enough. It sagged horribly in the middle.  We were constantly flipping the mattress to try and alleviate some of the discomfort.  Needless to say it had been awhile since either of us got a good nights sleep.

When the opportunity came up for us to get a new mattress we new we wanted a memory foam mattress. So when the opportunity came up for me to be able to review this mattress for Amerisleep I knew it was an opportunity I couldn't resist.
So I worked with Eric and ordered my Liberty bed.

Now I knew that the bed was coming VIA UPS so on the day it was scheduled to be delivered I was waiting and expecting a freight truck to come down the street with my bed and pillows.  So you can imagine my surprise when a regular old UPS truck pulled up to my house and the driver pulled out a cylinder shaped box and carried it to my door.

This is what my bed looked like before it left the warehouse. (stock picture provided by Amerisleep)
After taking the bed out it of the cardboard and carefully cutting of the black wrapping (I was petrified that I was going to cut my new mattress!) Inside the black plastic was my bed vacuum sealed in a clear plastic bag.  It couldn't have been more than maybe 3 inches high!

As soon as I cut into the plastic the bed started to expand and very quickly blew up to its full 12" high.

The mattress has a natural bamboo/cotton blend cover followed by a 4" layer of 4.5lb bio-pur foam that gives the bed softer contouring and eases pressure points.  This is followed by 8" of bio-core foam that reduces that sinking feeling and relieves stress on your body.

The first night we got into this bed it was a bit of a strange feeling.  When you are used to a spring bed that sinks in the middle, it is unusual to get into a bed that really doesn't move other than to make space for the weight of your body.  We slept wonderfully that first night!  I woke up and looked at my husband and had to laugh because for the first time in as long as I can remember out bed looked like it hadn't even been slept in.  The blankets were in perfect shape.  They had hardly moved!  It was GREAT!

So in case my word isn't enough to convince you that this really is a great bed here are a few more features that you might find interesting.
-It is naturally hypoallergenic, and resistant to dust mites.
-They are Made in the USA
-No Flip design
-Adjustable bed compatible
In addition to the mattress Amerisleep sent me two memory foam pillows.
The pillows are made with a unique air chamber memory foam that helps to improve air circulation and for a cool feel on your head.  If you are like me this is SUPER important.  I don't care how cold I am in bed if my head gets hot I can't sleep.  I am what I like to call a constant pillow spinner.
In additional to also being hypoallergenic and antimicrobial the bamboo cover can wick away up to 4x its weight in moisture!

I have to be honest.  I'm not a huge fan of my pillow.  I'm a pillow scruncher and this pillow just has too much structure for me to be able to do that.  Don't get me wrong it is a GREAT pillow and my husband who is a back sleeper absolutely loves it!  While I am not using it as my main pillow I do still use it under a feather pillow that I can scrunch while the memory foam pillow gives me the support that I need.

Disclosure: I received this mattress at manufactures cost in return for my review.  The two pillows were sent to me free of cost by Amerisleep in return for my review.  All opinions are my own.

  1. Just curious...your picture of the 'just arrived mattress' is the same as this blog's picture: http://www.titus2homemaker.com/2011/09/a-good-nights-sleep-memory-foam-mattress-review/
