Walgreens Prescription Savings Club

This post brought to you by Walgreens. All opinions are 100% mine.

After over a year of negotiations Walgreens and Express Script have ended their relationship. Effective January 1st those covered by Express Scripts were being forced to go elsewhere to have their prescriptions filled.  Patients are now having to drive further, to a pharmacy that probably has less convenient hours to fill their prescriptions.  On top of it, all of these hassles are NOT saving the patient any money! In fact Express Scripts has stated that prices of prescriptions may even go up!

One of the members that Express Scripts represents is Tricare.  Those of you in the military should know this name very well, as it is the company that covers all of your prescriptions.  Walgreens did all that they could to try and keep our military families from being stuck in the middle of this negotiation and even offered to negotiate these terms separately form the rest of the program.  Instead now our military families, who are already sacrificing so much are now having to sacrifice even more!

So how is Walgreens trying to ease the pain?  They are offering the Walgreens Prescription Savings Club at a discounted rate.  A family (this includes a spouse, all children under 22 and PETS) can get a 1 year membership for $10, regularly $35, or an individual membership for just $5, regularly $15.  This membership will provide you with saving on more than 8000 brand and generic prescriptions!  Some for a little as $1/week for a 3 month supply!

This discount card will also provide you with discounts on Flu Shots, pet prescriptons (yes I said PET), nebulizers and diabetic supplies.
